ALKALINE
What is DMK Alkaline Wash?
Alkaline Wash is a unique formula that takes the pH of the skin to the opposite end of the pH Scale. The alkaline solution has the ability to turn the pH of the skin from 5.6 to a pH of 12 in under three minutes. This action swells open the hair shafts helping to clear our any infected follicles and dissolve the skin cells. It also helps to break down any superficial pigmentation in the skin and can be used to revise scarring.
In performing this treatment your skin will be cleansed, alkaline procedure performed, extractions if necessary and followed up with your Enzyme Therapy mask.
If you are having an Alkaline for hair removal, the hairs are dissolved, the skin is neutralised and a follow up enzyme is not necessary (however could still be an option).
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Alkaline Therapy treats pigmentation, acne and also rosacea. It can also be used to remove fine, soft facial hair.
Are Alkaline Therapy treatments painful?
The treatment is close to pain free however the client may feel a mild tingling sensation and warmth in the skin.
How should I prepare for my treatment?
Prepare the same as you would a regular enzyme however you MUST be taking 4-6 EFA tablets a day in the two weeks leading up to your appointment along with topically applying Betagel to strengthen the skin and assist in healing.
Is there any downtime after the treatment?
A rubbery sensation of the skin can be felt for a few days post treatment with anywhere from mild to moderate flaking or dryness depending on the amount of alkaline resurfacing we have performed. Around day 4 you may experience an influx of oil on your skin which is normal.
Be aware that mild scabbing can occur on areas we have really worked on.
We recommend using Betagel and Contraderm post treatment for 5 days to assist in healing the skin.
Approximately 5 days post Alkaline you may perform a light exfoliating treatment if feeling flakey.
Make sure you use an SPF at all times during sun exposure 4-6 weeks before and after having an alkaline performed.
